FAQ’s
Is this the gym for you?
What is the difference between The Villages Gym and the competition?
The difference between The Villages Gym and other gyms lies in our concierge-style service, our professional staff, our medically supported cardiac programs, and our clients’ commitment to long-term health.
What is the environment like there?
The environment at The Villages Gym is friendly, relaxed, non-competitive, and professional.
What do you mean by “professional staff?”
Everyone here has over 15 years of experience and/or holds professional degrees in their sub-specialty. Our team includes a Board Certified Cardiologist as Medical Advisor, Registered Nurse, Exercise Physiologist, Physical Therapist, Registered Dietitian, MAT Therapist, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Personal Trainers who specialize in unique needs.
Why do you have “professional staff” at your gym?
Our clients want and deserve the best that the wellness industry can offer. Our success stories focus on health and happiness, not just perfect figures or bathing suit photos.
Who is your ideal customer?
Our ideal customer is someone who values concierge treatment, prioritizes their health, and believes that healthcare professionals should collaborate beyond their offices to provide the best care possible.
Is THIS Cardiac Program Right for You?
What are Cardiac Rehab and Cardiac Prehab?
Cardiac Rehab is a data-driven, nationally recognized program designed to prevent heart attacks and strokes in patients who have recently experienced a cardiac event. It is prescribed by cardiologists and follows a structured protocol that includes monitored exercise, diet, stress management, and smoking cessation.
Cardiac Prehab is our own abbreviated program that follows the Rehab protocol, but is intended for individuals with cardiac risk factors who have not yet had a cardiac event. In both programs, we collaborate with your doctor and our staff to create a program tailored to your unique situation.
Am I a Candidate for Rehab or Prehab?
If you have had a cardiac event (such as a heart attack) and your doctor has prescribed Phase II or III Rehab, you are a candidate.
If you have not had a cardiac event, but would like to reduce your risk of heart attack or stroke, you are a candidate for Cardiac Prehab.
How Do I Get Started?
Call 832-649-3902 or email us at manager@thevillagesgym.com to schedule a time to discuss your medical history and goals. We will follow up with your doctor before or after this meeting, depending on your comfort level. We ensure your medical history is thoroughly reviewed before establishing your protocol, and we will coordinate with your doctor throughout the process.
Do I Need a Referral or Prescription for Prehab?
No, you do not.
Can I participate if I do not have a cardiologist?
Yes! Although we require a release from your cardiologist or another doctor and are happy to discuss our program with them, they do not need to initiate a referral or be associated with the program.
Do you accept insurance?
No. The insurance process and reimbursement rates create limitations that impact our ability to provide the best care possible. While we hope this will change, this program is a self-pay investment in your heart health and your family’s future.
What will I do in the program?
We follow the widely accepted protocol for Cardiac Rehab, which includes 36 sessions of exercise spread over 12 weeks. Our professional team will guide you through monitored exercise, provide nutritional advice, and offer guidance on stress management. Smoking cessation support is included when necessary.
How will I know I’m safe when I exercise during this program?
You will be monitored with a three-lead EKG during each exercise session and guided by a professional staff member. Your reports can be shared at any time with your doctor for feedback, diagnosis, or concerns.
What happens once the program ends?
After graduation from the program, you can choose to continue exercising here with any of our exercise specialists, or you can follow a program of your own. We will help you apply what you’ve learned so you feel confident moving forward!
